A Spanking Gentleman's Creed

Mr Fondman  7 October 2000

This is a draft Spanking Gentleman's Creed in respect of his beloved woman. (Version 0.2  9 October 1999)  It is a bit of a mouthful, but its elements are distinct, essential an in a logical order.  Michelle suggested replacing "correct" with "guide", but many other women correspondents are adamant that correction is what they need most of all!  "Guide" is more gentle, but that is part of a loving relationship too, so I have added it and amended the five concept V0.1 creed into six concepts on three lines:

A Spanking Gentleman's Creed
To protect and support,
to guide and correct
and to celebrate and cherish.

Version 0.1 (25 September 1999) was: "To protect, support, correct, celebrate and cherish." Prior to October 2000, this was "The Spanking Gentleman's Creed", but I don't think changing "The" to "A" warrants a version number change.

Please suggest improvements!

Perhaps there is an important word which is missing:  to lead.  The man's leadership is vital.  A healthy woman wants balanced discussion on major decisions, and many want their man to make the final decision.  Or at least that is what they tell me.  In the heat of a disagreement, they may not be so happy, but that is when the man must be decisive if they are to be happy in the longer term.  So do we add "to lead"?  In some ways it encompasses guidance, but it also involves leading not just the woman, but the couple and the family.  Hmmm . . .   Maybe we need a second sentence . . .   Not every couple expects the man to lead, so perhaps I will leave "lead" out.  This "creed" is a starting point, not an edict.  Men should adapt it appropriately.   A forthright chap, knowing the needs and passions of his beloved woman, might make his "creed" something like:  "To protect and support, celebrate and cherish, lead and when necessary, spank like the blazes!"
